Since I'm not sure if I ever talked about it, let me take some time to explain to you what Waterfire is. In Providence, RI, there is a river, and during the warmer months, May-October, a local organization, called Waterfire lights the basins in the river with fire after sunset and plays music, while local food vendors and artists gather around to sell food and provide additional entertainment. It's a really cool atmosphere and a great way to just hang out. The lightings typically occur on Saturday nights, and sometimes they do mid-week partial lightings, but that depends on the sponsors that they get for each event.
Knowing that Waterfires take place on Saturdays, and Columbus Day Weekend is typically the last event, I stalked the schedule online for months, waiting for them to announce the last lighting. I was so stoked when October 6th was finally put up as the last lighting of the season, and we made sure to put information about Waterfire on our wedding website and invite our family and friends to join us there after the reception ended!
Turns out that our friends and family were pooped, and the only ones who ended up going were D and I, my parents, and my sister and her best friend. But that doesn't matter to me, because it was such a great way to wind down the night. I couldn't be happier that we went. And, honestly, the attention was kinda cool too, because everyone was shocked to see us there in our wedding dress and suit. Yep, we didn't even change!
My parents brought their camera, and my sister's best friend was taking shots on her phone and posting them to Instagram, so you'll see some of those in here as well.
From here, we said goodbye to my parents, and then walked up the street to our hotel. At this point, I couldn't wait to actually bend at my waist and stretch my back out.
But, coming to Waterfire was the absolute perfect way to end a perfect day.
